Ukraine and the EU to strengthen cooperation in the field of critical raw materials

One of the competitive advantages of Ukraine is its mineral resource base, namely the availability of strategic minerals that the European Union requires for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, 12 Ukrainian goverment entities, companies, organizations and scientific institutions have already joined the pan-European industrial alliances European Raw Materials Alliance and European Battery Alliance.

Ukraine presented a list of more than 30 areas for exploration and production of strategic minerals. This should contribute to the involvement of European companies to the exploration and development of strategic mineral deposits (titanium, lithium, graphite, beryllium, rare earth metals), as well as gas deposits in Ukraine.

A beta version of an interactive online map of Ukrainian strategic minerals has already been created, covering information on licenses, deposits, and ore occurrences with more than 1,000 sites (currently, free access is temporarily limited). In addition, Ukraine is ready to disclose and provide online access to geological information about the minerals of the construction group in order to accelerate country’s post-war recovery of infrastructure and social facilities.
