More than 30 German energy associations and private sector companies provided support to the energy sector of Ukraine

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action assisted Ukraine with the purchase of static synchronous compensators – additional equipment for the Ukrainian power system. More than 30 German energy associations and companies of the private sector helped Ukraine by purchasing energy equipment and providing logistical support for delivery. Supplies are constantly being delivered to the regions of Ukraine most affected by ongoing shelling.

The Secretariat of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership implements this activity in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and NGO “GoLocal” in coordination with the Ministry of energy.

Germany and Ukraine consolidated their cooperation in the energy field with signing a Joint Declaration of Intent in 2020. Thus, the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership provides a general framework for political dialogue in the energy sector on both sides to make cooperation on energy and climate issues even more effective.

In August 2022, the Entrepreneurship Development Fund (EDF) in Ukraine and the German state bank Credit Institute for Reconstruction (KfW) signed an agreement for 7.4 million euros in credit and grant financing of small and medium-sized enterprises for 30 years.
