Prime Minister of Ukraine, the leadership of the EU and the World Bank presented the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment report

The cost of Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery needs, according to the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) report, is estimated at more than $349 billion.

Reconstruction requires a comprehensive approach and mobilization of joint efforts of the Ukrainian government and international partners. The assessment of the destruction and the identification of reconstruction needs creates a solid basis for the national Reconstruction Plan and is a prerequisite for effective financing. In order to solve the priority needs, according to the assessment results, Ukraine will need $105 billion dollars in the short term.

Only for the first stage — rapid recovery —the needs are estimated at $17 billion, of which Ukraine needs $3.4 billion already in the next three months. Denys Shmyhal noted that this amount does not yet fully reflect the scale of destruction and losses for Ukraine and called on the World Bank and other partners to update the report regularly. Since the start of Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine, the EU has mobilized 10 billion euro in financing, humanitarian, emergency and military assistance for Ukraine and another 5 billion euros in financing are in the pipeline.
