Ukraine increases electricity exports to Europe

European Energy Network ENTSO-E allowed an increase of the export of Ukrainian electricity to Europe by 2.5 times from July 30, up to 250 MWt.

In March 2022 Ukrainian electricity grid was connected to the European grid. The export of Ukrainian electricity to the EU via Romania began in early July with an initial volume of 100 MWt.

The reports of ENTSO-E technical experts confirmed that the export of Ukrainian electricity to the power grid synchronized with continental Europe is stable, and there is no negative impact on the system. As a result, ENTSO-E allowed an increase of exports from Ukraine.
In the future, the total export capacity is planned to be increased to about 6 GWt, due to the potential of renewable energy sources and nuclear energy.

The competitive price of Ukrainian electricity allows it to fully realize the volume at auctions. The weighted average daily price of access to interstate power grids at crossings with Romania and Slovakia for 24 days was 7,700UAH/MWt (while the maximum price reached UAH 19,500/MWt), compared to last year’s prices, which did not exceed 3,000UAH/MWt.
