Dragon Capital returns to active funding in 2021

In 2021 Dragon Capital plans to return to the pre-pandemic level of investments, according to CEO and founder of Dragon Capital Tomas Fiala.
The company aims to close five deals with co-investors and Western funds for about $200 million in the first 6 month of the year. Such rates will allow Dragon Capital to return to the pre-pandemic tempo.

IT: FireWay – the winners of NASA Challenge

FireWay team has won the largest international hackathon NASA Space Apps Challenge 2020 in the category “Best Use of Technology”. 
The team has designed a universal space connector which extends lifetime of satellites due to direct refueling in orbit. Watch the intro video by the FireWay.


The Government expects economic growth of 4.6% in 2021

During the general meeting of the European Business Association “Global Outlook” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated that the Government expects economic growth of 4.6% in 2021. The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government is pursuing all its obligations to implement reforms and trigger new ones. According to him, preparations are underway to sign a memorandum on the establishment of the Ukrainian International Financial Center.
 “The work to create a full-fledged stock market has to last rather long, but if we don’t start it, there will be no stock market in Ukraine for another 30 years. I invite business to engage in work and submit proposals”, Denys Shmyhal urged.


Taxes: Ukraine improved taxation regime for the Kingdom of Denmark

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko signed the Protocol on Amendments to the Convention between the Government of Ukraine and Government of the Kingdom of Denmark on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion regarding income and property taxes. This Protocol introduces amendments to the Convention in order to bring its provisions in line with the OECD Model Tax Convention.


Real estate: 364,000 square meters are to be commissioned in big Ukrainian cities

According to the study by Alterra Group, in 2021-2022 the warehouse and logistics real estate market in Ukraine will amount to 364,000 square meters. About 200,000 square meters are to be commissioned in the market of Lviv region, whereas 71,400 square meters will be alocated in Kyiv. Among the planned projects in Kyiv are the warehouse FM Logistic (17,000 sq m), Sun Factory 2 (23,400 sq m), Makarovsky of ADG developer (15,000 sq m).


IT: Augmented Pixels receives new fundings

Founded by Ukrainian company Augmented Pixels closed a $2M funding round from current and new investors and completed the development of indoor navigation, earth-scale 3D mapping and cloud localization technologies. The funds are planned to be used for innovative R&D efforts and expanding with an executive team based in the United States.


4 Ukrainian cities are shortlisted for the EU Mies van der Rohe Architecture Award

13 Ukrainian projects have been nominated for the EU Mies van der Rohe Architecture Award. The winners will be announced in 2022. The list of contenders includes Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Dnipro. To see the list of the objects click the link.
