Ukrzaliznytsia doubled its container freight transshipment in 2020

🚆 Ukrainian state railways Ukrzaliznytsia carried out twice as much container freight during the first five months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Vladyslav Krykliy, on the occasion of the arrival of the second direct container train from China to Kyiv.

📍 With its favorable geographic location, Ukraine is the major Eurasian hub and an important trade and travel corridor between Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The country intends to increase the transit of rail freight from China to Western Europe, as well as the inclusion of Ukraine in the routes of the Silk Road and in the direct international connection between China and Ukraine.

To ensure an increase in the above-mentioned freight traffic, the Ministry of Infrastructure is actively working on the introduction of an international electronic consignment note and creation of digital transport corridors. This will simplify the flow of documents during transportation and reduce the financial burden on logistics.
