Ukraine’s agro-processing sector is an important part of the national economy, actively developing and offering significant opportunities for investors. UkraineInvest presents an analytical study that provides a detailed overview of the sector, highlighting its potential and key areas of development.
Thanks to government support and a favourable geographical location, Ukraine’s agro-processing sector is becoming increasingly attractive to investors. Ukraine ranks 6th in the world in terms of black soil. Ukraine has huge potential for agro-processing due to the availability of significant quantities of raw materials, large arable land, favourable climate and proximity to key markets. Supported by government initiatives, Ukraine’s agro-processing sector is attracting increasing attention from investors. The importance of this sector to global food security is confirmed by the fact that Ukraine’s food supply potential can feed 0.6 billion people worldwide. These factors allow Ukraine to take a leading position among the world’s leading agricultural producers and exporters.
Ukraine is also one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of cereals and oilseeds, with a harvest of over 80 million tonnes.
However, the war has caused significant losses to the agricultural sector, estimated in the billions of dollars. According to the study, Ukraine’s agricultural sector suffered losses of USD 80 billion. At the same time, reconstruction needs amount to USD 56 billion, which is the amount that will need to be invested over the next decade. Investment in infrastructure, such as irrigation, transport and storage, is critical to increasing productivity and reducing crop losses. With additional investment in innovative farming methods, high value-added production and training, Ukraine has the potential to restore food exports to pre-war levels and even double them. The agro-processing industry, in turn, will drive the recovery and long-term development of the country’s economy.
The UkraineInvest team invites potential investors to familiarise themselves with the investment opportunities available in the agro-processing sector in the study prepared by our think tank.
