UkraineInvest and the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine outline strategic steps to attract foreign investment

Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest, Oleksandr Melnychenko, held a working meeting with the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc. During the dialogue, the parties discussed prospects for the development of bilateral investment relations and new opportunities for Canadian businesses in the Ukrainian market.

Oleksandr Melnychenko presented Ukraine’s modern investment practices, outlined key legislative changes that create favorable conditions for attracting private capital, and highlighted UkraineInvest’s close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture within the state investor support framework.

Special attention was given to investment incentives that Ukraine offers to Canadian investors in key sectors of the economy, including energy, agro-processing, logistics, IT, infrastructure, healthcare, and nuclear safety. The meeting also identified specific steps to enhance coordination between the Embassy of Canada and UkraineInvest to provide Canadian companies with comprehensive legal, analytical, and advisory support on the Ukrainian investment environment.

The parties agreed on the organization of a series of specialized webinars for the Canadian business community, jointly hosted by UkraineInvest and the Embassy of Canada, targeting companies interested in investing in Ukraine.

Natalka Cmoc expressed strong interest in UkraineInvest’s activities and Ukraine’s investment practices, while reaffirming support for the institution’s initiatives and emphasizing the importance of deepening investment partnerships between the two countries.

UkraineInvest will provide comprehensive support to Canadian investors—from the decision to invest in Ukraine through to the full implementation of their investment projects.

In 2024, the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada entered into force, boosting trade between the two countries. The parties discussed practical ways to implement the Agreement in the area of investment cooperation. Joint efforts by UkraineInvest and the Embassy of Canada aim to strengthen bilateral economic ties, attract more foreign direct investment, and support Ukraine’s sustainable economic development.
