In August 2024, 6,714 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine. This is more than 200 cars per day and 80% more than in August 2023.
According to Maryna Kytina, Chief Advisor to the Executive Director of UkraineInvest, as of 1 September 2024, 119,445 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine.
According to her, this rapid growth may be due to drivers’ concerns about the possible introduction of an additional 15% tax, as well as rising fuel prices.
‘In terms of regional statistics, the Volyn region saw the highest growth in electric vehicle registrations in August – 13.32%. This is more than double the national average of 6.18%. In general, the western regions, with the exception of Zakarpattia, showed significant growth. Chernihiv and Mykolaiv regions also showed positive dynamics,’ said Maryna Kytina.
Ukraine continues to be a leader in the development of electric mobility in Eastern Europe, with a fleet of almost 120,000 electric vehicles. Since 2015, the country has introduced zero customs clearance for cars, and from 2019, electric cars will be imported without paying VAT.
