The reconstruction of the longest berth in Odesa seaport is completed

The reconstruction of the longest berth and the largest investment project in Odesa port has been completed and will be commissioned at the end of this August, reports the Odessa Journal.

After the reconstruction, the length of the berth will increase by 29 meters due to the change in the configuration of the berthing line of the Karantinnaya harbor – up to 386.5 m. These and other characteristics of the updated berth will provide the possibility of transshipment of general cargo on it in the amount of up to two million tons annually.

Ukraine keeps modernizing its port facilities in order to facilitate global trade, export, and support supply chains.

The novelty of the project lies in the fact that all utilities were placed on the border of the berth, which made it possible to increase production areas in the rear, to bring the maximum load during storage of goods to 20 tons per square meter and create more maneuvering space for wheeled vehicles,”

Maxim Shova, head of the Department of Hydraulic Structures and Capital Construction (OGISiKS) of the Odesa branch of the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine.
