The IMF approved a further tranche of USD 880 million for Ukraine

The IMF Board approved the third review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). In order to receive this tranche, Ukraine has met four key structural milestones set out in the arrangement.

In particular

  • an action plan for public investment management has been developed;
  • the adoption of the National Revenue Enhancement Strategy;
  • steps have been identified to increase state budget revenues, if needed, until 2024;
  • laws have been adopted to strengthen the institutional independence and effectiveness of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

“This is the result of Ukraine fulfilling its commitments to its partners. We expect the next tranche of financial assistance to be about USD 880 million. These are funds to cover key budget expenditures. It will help us continue to maintain macro-financial stability. I am grateful to the IMF for its confidence and support,” said Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine.

In total, the Ukrainian government has already received three tranches under the IMF’s EFF programme, totalling about USD 4.5 billion. In 2024, the programme foresees USD 5.4 billion in budget support for Ukraine.
