New war risk insurance programme launched for investors in Ukraine

The Ukrainian government’s investment promotion office UkraineInvest and insurance company ARX have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to enhance investor protection through war risk insurance.

Ukrainian insurer ARX has launched a first-of-its-kind insurance programme to protect companies operating in Ukraine from war-related risks. The programme offers coverage of up to USD 50 million, providing investors with robust protection for their assets and projects.

Tailored to the realities of wartime operations, the insurance policies are designed to help companies maintain business continuity. The programme covers a wide range of war-related risks, including physical damage caused by missile strikes, drone attacks and debris from air defence systems. It provides protection for the following types of assets and operations:

  • Commercial real estate;
  • Green energy projects;
  • Equity investments;
  • Construction initiatives;
  • Industrial facilities;
  • Logistics hubs and warehouses;
  • Agri-food operations.

UkraineInvest is actively promoting this insurance opportunity, engaging international partners and advocating for further policy solutions to enable safe and sustainable business operations in Ukraine.

At a time when Ukraine has built an unprecedented system of support and protection for investors during the war, we are putting a special focus on war risk insurance,” said Oleksandr Melnychenko, Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest. “The signing of this memorandum is an important step towards greater predictability and security for capital investment. War risk insurance gives businesses the confidence that their resources will be protected even under extreme conditions. This not only reduces risk, but also encourages the launch of new projects that will contribute to Ukraine’s economic recovery. After all, investment today means jobs, taxes and a stable future for our country.”

With this new insurance mechanism, investors can move forward with greater confidence, knowing that their assets are protected and that their risk exposure is reduced.

UkraineInvest, in coordination with the Cabinet of Ministers, The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Economic Development and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, continues its work to develop effective investor support mechanisms. The office plays a key role in informing investors about available insurance tools, engaging international partners to expand coverage options, and advocating policy solutions at the government level to integrate insurance into the broader framework of investment security in Ukraine.
