More than 1000 new foreign-owned companies registered in Ukraine in 2024

A total of 1,109 new foreign-owned companies were registered in Ukraine in 2024, a decrease of 24.2% compared to 2023. This data was reported by Opendatabot, based on information from the Unified State Register.

Entrepreneurs from 78 countries established businesses in Ukraine, with the most active investors coming from Turkey, Poland and the United States. Specifically, Turkish citizens registered 201 companies, Polish citizens registered 90 companies, and US citizens registered 89 companies.

The main activities of foreign-owned companies included

– Wholesale – 255 companies (23% of the total);

– Software development – 109 companies (9.8%);

– Real estate – 86 enterprises (7.8%).

Kyiv accounted for the highest number of newly registered foreign businesses, with 542 enterprises, representing 48.9% of the total. The Lviv region ranked second with 137 enterprises (12.4%), followed by the Odesa region with 122 enterprises (11%).

Despite the decline in the number of new foreign companies, overall entrepreneurial activity in Ukraine has increased. In the first half of 2024 alone, more than 13 000 new enterprises and almost 148 500 individual entrepreneurs were registered. This exceeds the figures for the same period in 2023, when 12,500 companies and 134,000 individual entrepreneurs were created.

Thus, while the number of foreign-owned enterprises has decreased, Ukraine’s overall business potential continues to grow, indicating a positive trend in the country’s entrepreneurial landscape.
