Italy Strengthens Its Investment Presence in Ukraine

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, in 2024, the total volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) from Italy into Ukraine exceeded USD 256 million. Italy ranks among the top 30 foreign investors in Ukraine. The largest share of these investments is directed toward industry, wholesale and retail trade, and construction. Italian companies continue to operate in the Ukrainian market, introducing advanced technologies and creating new jobs, thereby contributing to the modernization of Ukraine’s industrial sector.

This was announced by Oleksandr Melnychenko, Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest, during the online conference “Ukraine 2025: Doing Business; Creating Partnerships.”

Oleksandr Melnychenko emphasized that UkraineInvest is deepening its cooperation with Italian partners, particularly with the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), and the Italian business community.

We sincerely thank Italy for its consistent support of Ukraine and for participating in joint projects. We invite Italian businesses to step up their investment efforts in our country. UkraineInvest guarantees comprehensive support for Italian investment projects at every stage of implementation,” said Oleksandr Melnychenko.

The event was organized by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with UkraineInvest, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, and Confindustria, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. The conference aimed to deepen economic partnership between Ukraine and Italy and to create an effective platform for the development of new business connections and the stimulation of investment amid Ukraine’s post-war economic transformation.

Participants received up-to-date information on the current business climate in Ukraine, available investment opportunities, and prospects for bilateral cooperation. Presentations by leading Ukrainian enterprises showcased their experience, needs, and expectations from international partnerships, while Italian representatives introduced projects and areas of interest for collaboration with Ukraine.

Key topics of discussion included priority sectors for cooperation:

  • Infrastructure and construction
  • Transport and logistics
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Agricultural machinery and food industry
  • Healthcare
  • Energy and electrical engineering
  • Metallurgy

The conference served as an important preparatory milestone ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025), scheduled to take place on July 10–11 in Rome.
