Intensifying investment cooperation between Ukraine and Bulgaria is the focus of both countries

Ukraine’s recovery opens up opportunities for attracting investment from Bulgaria. The state’s position on European integration, the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions and the establishment of Ukrainian exports through Bulgarian ports is of great importance for Ukraine.

This was discussed at the bilateral Ukrainian-Bulgarian business forum held in Sofia at the request of Bulgarian and Ukrainian businessmen.

In his speech, Oleksandr Melnychenko, Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest, assured the participants that despite the war, it is not only possible but necessary to invest in Ukraine. He stressed that UkraineInvest is working hard to convince companies that our economy is a profitable business case and invited Bulgarian investors to cooperate.

“We are making sure that reconstruction is based primarily on attracting private investment. Our priority is to promote investment and support investment projects in the most attractive sectors of the Ukrainian economy. At the moment we are focusing on agro-processing, logistics, vehicle manufacturing, construction materials and furniture production. Ukraine offers investors a wide range of benefits and investment incentives aimed at investment in priority sectors of the economy. We are also working with partners who are ready to consider military risk insurance programmes for investment projects in Ukraine,” said Oleksandr Melnychenko.

The event aims to find long-term solutions for mutually beneficial business cooperation and coordination within the EU.

Today there are 350 companies with Bulgarian capital in Ukraine. Bulgaria has gone through a developmental phase of integration into the EU and can share its experience with Ukraine. The clear position of the Bulgarian government to support Ukrainians encourages business to cooperate.

Among the strategic steps of cooperation in attracting investments from Bulgaria to Ukraine, the participants mentioned in particular

  • cooperation in providing qualified advice to investors, holding joint webinars;
  • exchange of information on current investment trends with InvestBulgaria Agency;
  • participation in bilateral business events.

The Forum is organised by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Bulgaria has provided Ukraine with arms, import and transit of agricultural exports, humanitarian and Euro-Atlantic support in the most difficult times. Bulgaria has also proved to be our true friend in the vital issue of exports. We hope this will continue. We are working together to find long-term solutions for the mutually beneficial operation of our business and coordination within the EU,” said Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Ukrainian CCI.

UkraineInvest expresses its personal gratitude to the President of the Ukrainian CCI, Gennadiy Chyzhykov, for his work in intensifying bilateral economic relations.
