Increase in Ukrainian grain exports by 50% every month

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukraine is increasing its grain exports across its western borders by 50% every month to address the global food crisis caused by russia’s seaport blockade. The Ministry stated that in the present blockade conditions, they are working daily on reorientating their export logistics to land, particularly to the western borders of Ukraine with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. Ukraine is rushing to export the previous year’s harvest because its grain elevators are still full, and the new crop will start to be harvested in the next two months.

Moreover, the government is attempting to reach the expected average monthly export volume of grains the country had through its seaports. Thus, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will offer businesses favourable conditions for the construction of grain transshipment complexes near the borders in order to expand land export capacities and decrease congestion. Such complexes at the western border will simplify logistics solutions for grain transshipment. At least six to eight million tons of such capacity will be required soon. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the elevator storage capacity shortage for both old and new crops ranges from 10-15 million tons. The Minister said that within one to two months, these businesses will be offered grain handling complexes and plots for their construction on favourable financing terms near the border.
