The electric vehicle market in Ukraine is developing at an extraordinary pace. Over the past decade, the number of electric cars in the country has reached 130,000 and continues to grow. More than 4,000 new electric vehicles are registered every month, with a new record set in August – 7,000 electric cars were imported. Analysts predict that the number of electric vehicles in Ukraine could triple by 2025.
Maryna Kytina, Chief Advisor to the Executive Director of UkraineInvest and an expert in attracting investment to the automotive industry, reported on this at the conference “The State and Prospects of the Development of Electric Vehicles”. She presented analytical data showing the growth of electric mobility in Ukraine and outlined the key factors driving this development.
One of the main factors stimulating the demand for electric cars is the favourable conditions for importers. The absence of VAT and zero customs duties significantly reduce the price of electric vehicles, making them more affordable for Ukrainians. Thanks to these incentives, the number of electric cars on Ukraine’s roads is growing rapidly. However, these incentives will expire in 2026. At the same time, according to Maryna Kytina, the development of electric mobility in Ukraine will continue to show positive dynamics. This will be possible due to the introduction of new technologies as well as growing competition in the market, which will further contribute to a reduction in the price of electric cars.
“Electric vehicles are becoming more affordable thanks to technological innovations, improvements in batteries and increased competition among manufacturers. We predict that the price of electric cars will continue to fall over the next year and a half,” said Maryna Kytina.
