Azerbaijani ATEF Group is implementing a UAH 3 billion investment project in the Transcarpathian Region

A new industrial investment project involving Azerbaijan’s ATEF Group is underway in Ukraine – the establishment of a modern electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Khust, Transcarpathian Region. The project is being implemented by ATEF Ukraine.

The Azerbaijani group of Companies ATEF operates in the electrical engineering sector and has a manufacturing history dating back to 1961.

The Khust project envisages:

  • UAH 3 bln in investment;
  • a 12-hectare industrial complex;
  • the creation of around 500 jobs.

The facility is expected to manufacture a broad range of equipment for energy infrastructure, including power transformers rated up to 750 kV, dry-type transformers, reactors, compact substations, switchgear, relay protection and automation systems, power transmission line equipment and other electrical products.

A new stage in UkraineInvest’s engagement with the investor began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UkraineInvest and ATEF during the Carpathian Integration Initiative Summit in Bukovel. The document was signed by UkraineInvest Executive Director Maryna Khlystun and ATEF Director Aliyev Farid Pasha oglu.

The Memorandum established a framework for further practical cooperation in support of the company’s investment project in Ukraine.

Just one week after the signing, the UkraineInvest team visited ATEF Group’s production facilities in Azerbaijan as part of a working visit. The team had an opportunity to see the company’s manufacturing processes, technologies and production capabilities first-hand, visiting several of its production sites.

ATEF’s manufacturing capabilities include advanced production lines and its own accredited high-voltage testing facility for transformers rated up to 800 kV. Production is aligned with international standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, while products can be certified by accredited testing centres in Ukraine and the EU.

Importantly, while the production facility in Khust is still under development, ATEF Ukraine can already accept orders for transformers of various voltage classes and capacities, drawing on ATEF Group’s manufacturing capabilities in Azerbaijan.

UkraineInvest’s further engagement with ATEF will focus on supporting the implementation of the project in Ukraine, facilitating cooperation between the investor and Ukrainian partners, and contributing to the development of local electrical equipment manufacturing.

The project is important not only in terms of attracting investment and creating new jobs, but also for strengthening Ukraine’s industrial base and expanding domestic production of equipment needed for the recovery and modernisation of the country’s energy infrastructure.
