UkraineInvest has prepared an analytical study dedicated to the investment potential of Ukraine’s woodworking industry. This sector has significant growth opportunities and can play a substantial role in strengthening the national economy.
In 2024, the output of wood, paper, and printing products reached UAH 130.8 billion (3.6% of total industrial output). The sector includes more than 26,000 companies. Ukraine consistently demonstrates a positive trade balance: in 2024, exports of woodworking products exceeded USD 1.4 billion, while imports amounted to only USD 217.1 million.

Key findings of the study show that Ukraine ranks among the top 10 countries in Europe by timber reserves (2.3 billion m³) and forest area (10.4 million hectares), with an annual increment of 35 million m³. The country also holds 3rd place in Europe by FSC-certified forest areas.
The pulp and paper industry includes more than 2,900 operators producing around 50 types of paper and 20 types of cardboard. In 2024, exports reached USD 239.6 million, while imports totaled USD 918.7 million. The furniture industry, comprising more than 11,800 companies, generated UAH 40.5 billion in revenue, with exports exceeding USD 909 million (2.2% of Ukraine’s total exports). Poland and Germany remain the key export markets.
At the same time, the war has significantly affected the sector: part of the forest resources has been destroyed (losses are estimated at 83 million m³ of timber worth around USD 4.5 billion), and about 20% of forests remain inaccessible due to occupation and hostilities.
Despite these challenges, the reconstruction of Ukraine’s housing sector — estimated at USD 83.7 billion for 2025–2035 — is creating strong domestic demand for wood and furniture. This opens additional opportunities for investors in woodworking and furniture production.
