The project involves the installation of seven wind turbines manufactured by the German company NORDEX, which will generate approximately 122 million kWh of electricity per year. The total financing provided by Oschadbank amounts to EUR 40 million, comprising both a loan and an irrevocable confirmed “green” letter of credit of EUR 23 million, facilitated with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The construction of the Sokal wind farm will have a significant impact on Ukraine’s energy sector, contributing to the restoration of infrastructure damaged by russian aggression and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources into the country’s energy mix. The project is expected to create 140 new jobs in the local community and is expected to be completed in just over a year.
EKO-OPTIMA group, which previously built the first wind power plant in Western Ukraine, has extensive experience in implementing energy projects. The group currently operates 18 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 216.8 MW.
The Sokal wind farm project will not only improve Ukraine’s energy balance, but will also provide a strong impetus for the further development of renewable energy sources in the country.
