Transport innovation continues to transform the global energy landscape, creating new investment opportunities

Since 2019, the number of electric vehicle (EV) registrations in Ukraine has shown steady growth. Even during the difficult period from February to April 2022, despite the war and power cuts, the number of electric vehicles increased by 800 units. This trend has continued since then.

On a global scale, the trend is even more impressive: in the first half of 2024, sales of electric vehicles reached 16.7 million units, while sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles fell by 9%.

This was stated by Maryna Kytina, Chief Advisor to the Executive Director of UkraineInvest and an expert on investments in the automotive industry, during the joint forum Petroleum & LPG Ukraine 2024.

During her presentation, she shared analytical data demonstrating the growth of electric mobility and highlighted the key factors driving this trend.

“Global sales of electric vehicles will reach new highs in 2024, with 16.7 million units sold. The growth of electric mobility will reduce global oil demand by around 6 million barrels per day by 2030 and 13 million barrels per day by 2035. This confirms that the peak of global oil demand occurred at the end of 2018 and no further growth is expected,” said Maryna Kytina.

The Petroleum & LPG Ukraine 2024 Forum brought together over 230 delegates representing more than 80 commercial organisations, including major retail networks, government officials, wholesalers and equipment manufacturers and suppliers. Key topics of discussion included

– fiscal policies;

– mandatory bioethanol blending programmes;

– establishment of minimum stocks of oil and petroleum products;

– alternative energy development;

– infrastructure projects.

Electric mobility emerged as a key topic of discussion, demonstrating how innovations in transport are reshaping the global energy landscape and opening up new investment opportunities.
