Japan is interested in implementing investment projects in Ukraine and intends to become an active investor in the country’s reconstruction

This was discussed during the meeting of the UkraineInvest team with the top management of the Japan External Trade Development Organisation JETRO, headed by Mr. Tetsuo SHIBATA, Designated Director General JETRO Kyiv and Mr. Tadayoshi HIRAKI, Trade Attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

The parties discussed investment opportunities offered by Ukraine, ways to intensify bilateral cooperation and the possibility of JETRO’s assistance in establishing B2B contacts with Japanese investors.

The UkraineInvest team assured the Japanese partners that all investment projects would receive adequate support and recommendations to remove potential barriers for Japanese investors in Ukraine.

Japanese investors focus on energy, critical infrastructure and business support.

Japan is one of Ukraine’s most important Asian partners. Over the past two years, it has provided more than USD 10 billion in various forms of assistance to Ukraine and plans to become an active investor in reconstruction projects.

JETRO is an independent administrative body under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan established to promote trade and economic cooperation with other countries.
