The Polish development bank BGK plans to start providing loan guarantees for investment projects in Ukraine in the third quarter of 2024

Andrzej Dycha, director of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), said this during a conference as part of an economic mission of Polish companies from the medical, pharmaceutical, rehabilitation and prosthetics industries to Kyiv.

Reconstruction, modernisation and stabilisation of Ukraine are key factors attracting Polish investors. Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the healthcare sector has a huge development potential, as the needs for the reconstruction of the domestic healthcare sector amount to more than USD 16 billion.

In his speech, Oleksandr Melnychenko, Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest, announced the creation of a permanent working group on the implementation of the mechanism for attracting investment in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The aim of the working group is to organise and consider issues of investment attraction, as well as to make proposals on how to implement investment projects in these areas in order to fulfil the tasks assigned to UkraineInvest.

During the economic mission of Polish companies from the medical, pharmaceutical, rehabilitation and prosthetics industries to Kyiv, a number of other events took place, including

  • sectoral consultations with representatives of the Ukrainian state administration, organisations, international projects and business associations;
  • study visit to familiarise with the healthcare system;
  • B2B meetings;
  • webinar Rebuilding Ukraine – PAIH industry consultations: medical and pharmaceutical sector, rehabilitation, prosthetics;
  • meeting of PAIH Director and Polish companies with UkraineInvest management.

During the meeting between the management of UkraineInvest and Polish companies, the parties discussed

  • the situation in the healthcare system of Ukraine: destruction, losses, reconstruction plans;
  • current governmental and international projects, plans and opportunities for participation of Polish companies;
  • legal and market conditions in medicine, pharmaceuticals, rehabilitation and prosthetics in Ukraine;
  • offers of Polish companies on the Ukrainian market.

The aim of the business mission was to support the development of cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian companies and to establish new business contacts. The entrepreneurs had an opportunity to learn about the prospects and needs of the Ukrainian public administration and to establish contacts with business partners and non-governmental organisations.

As a result of the russian aggression, the Ukrainian healthcare sector is facing huge challenges in the areas of prosthetics, rehabilitation of war victims, pain management and psychological support – Polish companies presented their products and solutions that could prove particularly effective in the current situation.

The mission was co-organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), UkraineInvest, the International Association of Polish Entrepreneurs in Ukraine, the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Związek Przedsiębiorców and Pracodawców Polska Akademia Nauk.
